These can be some of the hardest essays to write – and they can be, hands down, some of the most powerful.
These are the types of stories that schools like Stanford and Kellogg and Tuck and maybe Darden and others love.
If you can write an essay like this – powerful, introspective, honest – you will have the keys to the MBA kingdom.
Or at least: You will get noticed, and you will be setting yourself up to almost definitely earn an interview invitation!!

These are admittedly esoteric ways and highly metaphor-driven methods we’re using to talk about these skills. Not everyone is writing essays about intrapersonal change.
However, those who are, who are able to wrestle with this advice and internalize it (ha – see what we did there???) have an opportunity to truly create essays that bring impact out to the fore, and those types of essays tend to be the ones that Stanford says yes to.
