Essays reviews? In April?!?
This is not usually the time when Snarkville is hopping with essay-writing and application-finalizing stress-monsters (aka, applicants to bschool). Most of the stress we see at this time of year is from the waitlisted woes and the can’t-decide-which-school-to-attend people at the latter stage of the admissions process.
However, every now and then we get some excited, ambitious, and accomplished college students trying for the programs like HBS 2+2 and Yale Silver Scholars show up, who are suddenly realizing that the DEADLINES ARE HERE!! OMG! HALP!
So help we will (or at least, we’ll try!).
Today we’ll be sharing parts of an actual essay written by one such student, this one applying to Yale SOM. This came in through our standing offer to submit an essay for freebie review.
The essay question is:
Describe the biggest commitment you have ever made.
How did they do???

Writing essays for MBA apps is a new skill! We hope it’s helpful to read through comments like this. If you’re thinking of applying to school right now and you have a draft that you’re unsure about, you could submit it for consideration for one of these freebie reviews (available to signed-up members with a blahg subscription or other services). We can’t promise when we’ll be able to post your essay but we will try to be responsive to such requests coming in if we can!
