Things in America are a bit tense today!
We do of course hope that if you’re a citizen of this country, that you’ve gotten your ballot in or have made your plans to get to the polls today.
Voting is one of those things, kinda inconvenient, especially in some voting precincts right now where there are significant delays and a long wait — but it’s so important, and you’ll feel so good when you’ve done it!
But you’ve been bombarded with those messages for weeks now and it’s gotten especially intense in the past few days. We’re not here to guilt-trip you into anything.
Especially not about writing essays! Not today. Nobody can focus on anything right now.
The symptoms of both anxiety and depression include difficulty concentrating; sleep disruptions; and physical experiences like sore neck and shoulders, among others. You may feel distracted, jittery, or maybe you’re just shut down. Or, maybe you are irritable and can’t snap yourself out of it. All of these reactions are completely and absolutely normal right now.
Take care of yourself, take care of each other, and we’ll see what happens in the coming days.
