Ahh, so very sad: Even the longest of long weekends must come to an end. For those of you in the U.S., who are now rolling off the Thanksgiving break, welcome back to work. And for everyone: Welcome to the holidays! Whatever you celebrate, December is hopefully a time of peace and joy — even if the celebrations are going to be smaller and quieter this year.

Can you have too much of a good thing?
Is it possible to be too diverse?

This essay-writing and app-development stuff is at least as much art as it is science! The purpose of each essay needs to be known, and each element of your app needs to fit together in a meaningful way with all the other elements, to construct a view of yourself that your admissions reviewer can instantly “get” as they go through your materials. Don’t get too hung up on these ideas of “diversity” and “differentiation” — because you are already unique! It’s about identifying the ways that you have contributed, performed, and yes even outdone yourself, in one or more contexts, and capturing those examples as soundbites within the essays and other parts of the app. That’s how you impress your reader and help them get to know you through the pages of your app, which will then hopefully make them want to meet you in real time in a Zoom interview later!
