We’d tried to get to this sooner but, alas, those deadlines are here and we’ve been busy busy busy in Snarkville trying to get help to you panicking Brave Supplicants. We’re reading lots of essays and resumes and we’re starting to see some good work coming in from a lot of you! Keep plugging away with this introspection, revision, and good thinking that you’re doing (though try not to pull out all of your hair along the way).
As promised when we posted the Wharton essay commentary last week — whoa, can you believe that was only one week ago!? Doesn’t it feel like forever? When you’re working hard to meet a goal then time goes into a strange cycle doesn’t it? Or maybe that’s coronavirus. Yeah, everything.
Anyway, we did promise to try and get to comments on this real-life Harvard essay too, and yes the deadline is mere days away but better late than never, right? What were you going to do all weekend anyway except rewrite your essay for your HBS app? (fun times!)
As you know, this is the question that Harvard Business School poses for you poor souls:
“As we review your application, what more would you like us to know as we consider your candidacy for the Harvard Business School MBA Program?”
Before we get into the actual submission received from this brave Brave Supplicant in response to our invite for potentially ripping apart reviewing your work on this here blahg… We have to say the obvious.
We wrote a book on how to get into Harvard.
Heck, we also have a whole page of HBS MBA application tips that you don’t even have to pay a cent for.
We even wrote about some of these issues only a few weeks ago — scrolling down just a bit on the main page of the blahg would pop this headline up: Let’s talk about Harvard’s essay
So when we get a comment like this, it just makes us go “hmmm” (and not a “hmmm maybe i’ll have ice cream” type hmmm but more like this type of “hmmm” if you know what we mean):
