Gosh it seems like forever-ago that we promised this. Way back a century ago in late April, we were talking about what factors affect the instructional quality you’ll experience as a student taking online courses in an MBA program (if it comes to that) and which schools might be ahead of the curve in delivering a better online curriculum. We included some points in those posts about schools that were already online in some form or another.
For at least a year now we’ve been meaning to talk about online MBA programs here on the blahg — but it was never a high-demand topic. and it kept getting pushed down in our editorial calendar. Now, wonder of wonders, online education is suddenly relevant, and some thought leaders believe it’s here to stay (read Scott Galloway of NYU Stern — the guy who just a few months ago predicted the WeWork blow-up — talking about the changes looming for higher ed post-covid ).
This is by no means an exhaustive list but it gives you a taste of how some business schools had, prior to coronavirus, begun to embrace online education and offer more robust degree programs in a distance-learning format. These schools were better positioned at the beginning of this pandemic to pivot. This is not an endorsement of any, it’s only a catalog of schools that had previously hit our radar based on investments they were making towards the online future.

There are certainly other good schools out there doing online education, and it’s easy to predict that there will soon be many, many more. Perhaps this quick list has given you new ideas of opportunities you might want to investigate further? What schools might you be looking at for an online degree? Or are there other specializations that are only available in the online format that you want to pursue? Let us know in the comments!
