Yes it’s the weekend but we’re around and working and we figured we could toss out a quick post to help with something important in your apps.
As we’ve been harping on recently, the way to stand out from the crowd in your MBA apps is to show the adcom how you’ve done something cool. Or interesting. Or just significant in whatever context you’ve done it. You need to do more than name some projects you’ve worked on.
If you want to see some examples of what we mean, check out this post from Soojin Kwon at Michigan Ross: She’s bragging about the applicants that they just admitted in Round 1, and rightly so. (Though her post may be a bit premature – there’s no guarantee that all of those applicants will be accepting Michigan’s offers and matriculating – presumably, candidates who shine like these seemed to, will have other offers in hand as well.)
Anyway, happy Essay Writing, people! And congrats to Soojin and the Ross adcom for attracting such a distinctive set of candidates. Yes, the bar has officially been raised!
