Thank you for this! In cases where we need to describe our limited impact within the greater project, is there still value in bringing up the larger project’s impact? Or should we use our space to focus on talking about our personal impact?

@eozturk – great question! And the answer is YES! If it’s done subsequent to your own clear presentation of your contribution. In a bullet on the resume, this may be tough to include but in an essay you should have room for it. And, by “subsequent” that doesn’t mean it only can come after you’ve established your part. Sometimes this can be done in an intro statement, as a way to establish scope or importance of the project, before diving down into the piece that you personally did. Or, often it’ll fit more easily at the end, where you talk about the results that you achieved. It’s not completely immaterial but it’s not the most important part (which many applicants seem to overlook). Thanks for the question!!
