($) EssaySnark’s Top 19 MBA Programs – ranked by how easy it is to get in

May 26, 2014 by EssaySnark

This was our view of the bschool admissions landscape in 2014 - and it's still kind of sort of the same, but things are changing as the application volumes go up and as the schools jockey for position, many of which have new leadership since this was first published. Here's our 2017 view of the MBA admissions landscape!

Crazy. You know how much we don’t care for rankings. And it’s not like there’s a dearth of them out there. Seems everybody and their brother has published their own MBA rankings system. You’ve got the standard BusinessWeek rankings, which many people seem to view as the “definitive” one (if there is such a thing)….

P&Q’s rankings are actually just a weighted average of the five major publications, so it’s not a bad first rankings to look at.

Some might be shocked at where Stern is on your list, but it’s all about location, location, location…

Thanks for filling us in on the way P&Q does it. Kinda surprised to hear you say that about NYU; are you saying that people think it’s a safety school? Yes, people often underestimate it, but they do that way worse with Haas.

No – not saying Stern is a safety school (to call any in this top 19 “safety” is laughable). Just saying that it’s a tougher school to get into compared to its peer schools that land in the 10-15 range of most rankings (i.e. Ross, Yale, Darden) due to its NYC location.

Still not following. What does NYC have to do with it being tough to get into?

We could name a slew of NYC schools that are a walk in the park (or at least, Fordham and Baruch – maybe not a slew but a couple).

Not understanding the NYC element in regards to competitiveness.
