Last year we did a little experiment: We posted an essay without offering any feedback of our own, and instead simply invited the peanut gallery to comment.
We called it “Crowd-sourcing an essay critique” and it actually worked fairly well. Some of the comments the BSer received were quite decent.
Well guess what? We’re rolling out a new subscription where you can get comments on your own essay, in a private section of the EssaySnark site, protected from the prying eyes of the wide-open Internet.
Essays posted in this section are accessible only to other Brave Supplicants like yourself: people who are actively applying to business school, who are struggling with the process of developing their pitch.
And it’s a reciprocal system. In order to get feedback on your essay, you need to post feedback on others’. It’s a two-way exchange. You don’t have to comment on every single person’s essay that’s posted, but spreading the luv around would help everyone make their work tighter.
It’s a month-by-month subscription, $ 8.95 a month with a three-month term – you can get started now and have full access all the way through your Round 2 deadlines.
The whole thing is described on our new Crowd Sourced Essay Reviews subscription page.
Because we appreciate the opportunity to have helped so many of you in your Round 1 applications, we have granted all Complete Essay Package subscribers from the past few months free access to the Crowd-Sourced Essay Reviews site. You should be able to access the special section already: go to the My SnarkCenter menu and choose Crowd-Sourced Essay Reviews to see them.
We also took the liberty of loading in one BSer’s ISB essay that was submitted to us for a free essay review in the last week. So there’s already an essay up there waiting for comments! We received a few other essay submissions recently too but we’re assuming that most of those have already been put to bed in their respective Round 1 applications, so we’re not going to post them for peer feedback – but we can. If you sent in any essays for the free EssaySnark review recently and you haven’t seen them go up on the site, and you’d like to have them posted for Crowd-Sourced feedback, let us know and we’ll set you up with complimentary access to the protected forum.
Don’t worry, we’re going to continue with the free essay reviews posted on the blahg, but as you probably have realized, those are somewhat irregular – we try to post them regularly but we can’t promise that we’ll get feedback to everyone. With the Crowd Sourced Essay Reviews, you’ll have a greater chance of getting some input on your well-worked drafts in time to actually put it to use.
We’ve seen the great progression in skills from many of you in working together for Round 1. We hope you’ll be interested in participating in this forum and help some others along the way. It’s the way we roll and it would be great to see a bunch of you dive in.
Questions? Post them in the comments and we’ll fill you in with some answers.
