We keep getting questions about “What should I be working on?” Another one came in from someone who’s going to be submitting their first apps in Round 2 (which is fine) and is currently studying for the GMAT. Here’s what we told them:
The most important first step is to crack that GMAT. Depending on when your test date is (hopefully it’s soon) you can justify putting all your efforts into studying – it’s THAT important. Your score will to a large degree determine your strategy. You have a little time before Rd 2 so focus there, almost exclusively if you can, to make the most of that opportunity. You can’t 100% decide your list of schools until you know the GMAT score, so that’s a very important first step.
It’s also pretty tough to do GMAT studies and essays at the same time, which is why you want to move as fast as you can through the GMAT part – because you’ll definitely need time for the essays too! The good news on essays is that coming (very!) soon you’ll hear of something (very!) cool (we hope!) to help out with essays. So, keep watching the blog for that!!
Yes we know we keep teasing you with this “coming soon!” thing — but just wait, it’ll be here before ya know it.
