Those of you who read this blahg at the blahg (instead of in a reader or feeder or whatever) may have noticed a new menu on the right panel: Popular Posts. EssaySnark is fascinated by how many of those are about UC Berkeley Haas. We doubt it’s that we only have something interesting to say when we talk about Haas; instead, we suspect it’s because those Haas questions are so darn hard!
(Either that or there’s just one Haas applicant who’s hittng his head against a wall so much that he keeps coming back to read the same posts over and over again. It’s possible!)
Because…. What the h3ll do they mean when they want you to talk about those “Principles”? It’s pretty tough to really crack open the meaning on those, even with the help of the definitions the school provides.
One message you can extract from the school: they want THINKERS. Make sure you impress them with more than just a bright shiny GMAT score. You have to show you can articulate a valid argument and DEMONSTRATE THOSE QUALITIES in order to make the cut at this school.
And did you know that the Haas acceptance rate is usually among the top 3 or 4 most selective of any school in the world? (at like 12% or so) For all you who are hitting the Haas Round 2 deadline tomorrow: Good luck! (Yes, Haas has a Round 2 in November — they have four rounds total — as long as you apply by their Round 3 you should have a decent chance).
We hope that all you struggling with your pitch to Haas are finding value here, and that you’re successful! We’re going to keep our eyes on that Popular Posts list to see how the trends evolve over time (though obviously it’s likely creating a self-perpetuating “popularity list” to call out a certain set of posts over others like this). We’ve only been doing this blog thing for about a year now, and intermittently at best, so it will be interesting to see how it changes.
