EssaySnark posted yesterday about “emotional intelligence” – remember that one?
Well clearly the Columbia adcom didn’t do a good enough job screening for it last year.
Go ahead. Read this (the article itself is even snarkier than we are!) – they’ve got an email sent out to Columbia first-years who apparently don’t have the whole professionalism and good manners thing down.
And for whatever reason, EssaySnark thinks it’s funny that the article had a “sponsored content” section advertising Columbia’s new Saturday EMBA program running parallel to it. Nice way to spend your advertising dollars, CBS adcom. Or maybe not – maybe it’s a perfect way to emphasize that those EMBA Saturday types wouldn’t want to be caught dead in a classroom with the “mid-twenty-somethings in finance.”
This other email seems even worse though — not only do CBS students not play nice, but apparently they smell bad, too.
To be fair: These emails came not from the CBS administration (nor the adcom) but from a student-run club. Still… some it this seems a little harsh and/or arbitrary.
And/or, makes you wonder, how did these kids make it through the interview process last year if they don’t know how to do it this year?!??
